Scripture: "As a prisoner for the Lord...I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received." Ephesians 4:1
Observation: You have been called to ministry. Every believer is called as soon as they become a believer. God has great plans to use you to glorify Him and bless His people. As soon as you receive Jesus you receive a call. Spiritual gifts are not an optional part of Christian life; they are the way God empowers you to live out your call. Living a life worthy of the call is therefore living a life in which you allow gifts to flow through you. Paul urges believers to be informed about gifts (1 Cor. 12:1), to offer themselves (Romans 12:1), and to live a life worthy of the call!
Application: Every believer has a high calling. Unfortunately, few believers live out the call. Nothing is more sorrowful than a life that might have been. We are to live our ministry and constantly work to improve. God's grace allows Him to work in broken and sinful people, but we who are broken and sinful are never to stop trying to live a life worthy of the great things He is doing in us!
Prayer: Ask God to allow the reality of your life to match the calling. Ask Him to expose the areas of your life where grace has covered your weakness and ask Him to empower you to live a life where your life matches what God has already declared you to be through grace.
