Yankee Urinals for Sale

The New York Yankees are moving to a new stadium, and in a bit of fundraising genius that demonstrates just how gullible and mindless sports fans can be the team owners and the city have decided to sell pieces of the old stadium as memorabilia. They are even selling the urinals to lucky sports fans that want to own a "piece of history." They are expecting to make over 15 million on this venture.

This proves one thing-- there is something deeply wrong with American society that is evidenced by the fanatical sports following of the masses. Sports have become the "opium of the masses, " and there is a lot of money to be made peddling this opium. The shame to me is that we are becoming a society that vicariously lives our fantasies through professional sports while wasting our own potential to be what God made us to be. We are sadly paying big money to do this.

Check out this article for more thoughts on the reason we go crazy over professional sports. Imagine what we could do with our lives if we actually lived them ourselves rather than paying some steroid pumped jock to live it for us on TV.
